Girls Cricket

Wendouree Cricket Club and The Ballarat Cricket Association are providing heaps of different options for girls of all ages to be involved in cricket.

This year Victoria Park on Friday evenings will be the girls cricket hub in Ballarat.

These 'Girls Only' programs will run at Vic Park from 5.00pm til about 7.30pm

There will be 3 different programs for girls, so there will be something for all ages.

  • Woolworths Master Blasters (previously Milo in2 Cricket Program) (ages 8-10)
  • Stage 1 (aimed at about 10-12 year olds) (shorter pitch and rubber ball)
  • U14 competition (Shorter pitch but using a hard leather ball)

The clip refers to an 'Under 11' format, but the research conducted by Cricket Victoria has shown that this format is perfect for girls up to about 14 years old and is what was successfully used for the Ballarat Girls Program last season.

The Programs will run in 2 x 5 week blocks (one per-Christmas and one post Christmas when school goes back):

The ‘Stage 2’ competition will commence on Friday 26th October and the Stage 1 competition will start on Friday 16th November.

Christmas Break

Dates for the 2019 season are yet to be confirmed.  But it will kick off when school goes back.

The U12 girls will play a modified format with 7 players per side, a shorter pitch, shorter boundaries and a soft ball - this is all designed to help them develop their skills, learn the game, score runs and take wickets all while having fun!

If you are interested in joining one of our 'girls only' teams, please contact our Junior Coordinator Tim Argall -

You don't need to have played cricket before - you just need to want to try it out and have some fun.

Our training sessions have commenced again for 2018.  We plan to hold some training/practice sessions for the girls at the Wendouree Oval on a Sunday morning at 10.00am  - this is the same time as the U12 boys train and the Milo in2Cricket program is held.

The exception to this is Sunday 4th Feb when we will be training on the oval at St Pats College due to the Ballarat Gift being conducted on our oval and us not having use of it for that weekend.

We are hoping the 10.00am time slot will make it easier for families with siblings who may also be involved in the boys U12 training or the Milo program on a Sunday morning.

If you are interested in playing cricket, you are more than welcome to come along to one of our training sessions and have a look and join in and see if you like it!

Wendouree Cricket Club provides all the cricket equipment (bats, pads, helmets etc) a playing shirt and cap for each girl in our team - there is no need for families to buy any equipment.
